Torrelamata (officially, La Mata) is a district of Torrevieja, in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community. It has a population of 1198 inhabitants.1​
It borders to the north with Guardamar del Segura and to the west with the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park.
The town has an important tourist dimension and a considerable number of inhabitants from various parts of Europe, being largely a dormitory city. Since 2010 it has had a district headquarters of the Torrevieja city council.2​
It has several beaches with abundant sand, the most important being Torrelamata beach, which is located south of the center of the town. In the urban area there is an extension of it with the name of Torre de La Mata beach or the pier. To the north it is integrated into the group of protected beaches of the Torrelamata and Guardamar dunes, which have abundant coastal flora and fauna.
It communicates with Torrevieja through two roads that are surrounded by urbanization.
